James Wan, director of the upcoming film “Fast and Furious 7,” has confirmed that filming for the movie will continue in the wake of the death of franchise star Paul Walker. Walker, who died Saturday night as a result of a car crash along with friend Roger Rodas, was reportedly days away from filming crucial scenes in the movie.

Wan confirmed in a conference call that the film will continue, although filming will be delayed while the script is rewritten to reflect the recent events.

Prior to this confirmation, this past Sunday’s filming of the movie was suspended while cast and crew mourned for the fallen actor. “We’re just going to grieve right now, we’ll deal with (the specifics) later,” Producer Neil H. Moritz said to a TMZ cameraman Sunday night.

Shortly after the news of Walker’s death broke, Universal released the following statement:

“”Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans.We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
